Yearly Wrap: All of My 2020 Faves + 2021 Resolutions!

Hello hello hello!! Long time, no see, everyone!! First things first: HAPPY NEW YEAR! How have you all been?? I hope you’ve all been staying safe and happy and are well on your way to achieve all of your 2021 goals. I personally am doing very nicely! I know I disappeared on you for like a month (it’s somehow already three weeks into January?!?!) and I’m sorry about that… I blame it on having more winter break homework than anticipated, plus lack of motivation and procrastination.

Musical Shuffle Book Tag!

Hello everyone, and welcome back! Today, I’m bringing you the Musical Shuffle Book Tag! I discovered this tag on Sara’s blog, and it sounded so fun that I reverted to my tag thieving ways for a chance to complete it. I mean, books + musical theatre is the best combination ever, and I know all of you are in agreement. Speaking of which, there is going to be a lot of musical theatre in this post, so if that is somehow offensive to you (um… how?), you can skip over today’s post, I guess 😂

The Month in Books: August 2020

It’s the end of August. It’s the end of August. It is THE END of AUGUST. 😱😱😱

Yeah, sorry about the drama. School starts again in September, and I can’t believe summer is drawing to an end already. Anyway, all this leading to: Let’s get started with August’s monthly wrap-up!

Hamilton Book Tag!

Welcome to another Tag Thursday!

If you haven’t noticed already, I am a massive, massive fan of Hamilton. Although it wasn’t the first ever musical I fell in love with — that title belongs to WickedHamilton was the show that truly opened up the magical world of musical theatre to me. And in honor of the upcoming Hamilfilm being released on Disney+ on July 3 (watch the trailer here), I am doing the Hamilton Book Tag!

This tag was started by Maureen over at YouTube, and I discovered it at The Bookish Beagle. As per usual, nobody tagged me, but I am a professional tag thief, and that’s no excuse for me not to do it. 😂

As a side note, there are some spoilery questions in the tag. My answers will be marked for spoilers, and I’ve made sure to be especially careful with my headers for those questions.

But anyway, let’s get started. Be warned: there is going to be a lot of spontaneous screaming of Hamilton lyrics.

Reading Every Treatise on the Shelf: Musicals & YA Books

I love musicals. I love them a lot. They hold an indescribable charm for me that results from the combined effect of the story, the numbers, and the visual performance.

This past weekend, I was one of the 11 million people who streamed The Phantom of the Opera for FREE on YouTube. The YouTube channel The Shows Must Go On! is streaming live one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s internationally renowned musicals every Friday night and leaving them available to watch for 48 hours as part of a fundraiser for the Actors Fund, in an effort to help theater professionals affected by the coronavirus. This weekend, it was the Royal Albert Hall performance of The Phantom of the Opera. I am ashamed to admit it was my first ALW musical, but boy, was it worth it.

Suffice it to say, I fell completely, head-over-heels in love.
